Thank you to "The Homesteader's Way"!
I have been privileged to be able to join up with The Homesteader's Way site, which gathers together like-minded folks who are homesteaders or small farmers to promote the legal, handmade/homegrown products of our efforts. I invite everyone to stop by and browse! New links are being added daily. I encourage each of you to support small farmers; I firmly believe that the future of food production rests with small farms.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but can you tell me what time of "steer/cattle" that is in the picture?
ReplyDeleteim not 100% sure but it looks like some i saw some years ago and they were call ed highland cattle they are free range from(and dont quote me on this norway or ireland) they have long shaggy coats to help them stay warm. and no question is ever stupid thats how we learn .
ReplyDeleteIt is, indeed, a Highland Cow, or as the Scots say, a Hieland Coo. They are "wonderful cold weather animal that is a multipurpose (meat/milk/oxen) heritage cattle." (thanks Phelan - it's her banner!)
